Drafting Wills

Planning your estate is important for everyone. However, when it comes to planning your estate when you have children with special needs, it is especially important that you do it correctly. Formbook and computerized documents can be especially risky for these situations. Literally, leaving out a few words can mean the difference between making your loved one more comfortable after you're gone and disqualifying her from the government benefits she should be entitled to. I cannot emphasize enough how important this is.

Supplemental Needs Trusts

A Supplemental Needs Trust ("SNT") (also referred to as a Special Needs Trust) is a legal document constructed for the benefit of an individual with a disability. If properly drafted, those assets in the trust will not be counted as the individual's assets when qualifying for governmental benefits. We at the Law Offices of Lloyd Donders will spend as much time with you as necessary to understand you and your loved one's needs before drafting a SNT.

Guardianship

When a person is unable to manage his/her financial affairs or medical care, it may become necessary to have a guardian appointed to manage these decisions. The Law Offices of Lloyd Donders will be able to help you understand and navigate this process.
